Clean and Green Singapore 2011 song picked at the rousing finale to NEA's inaugural Eco Music Challenge 2010

The National Environment Agency’s (NEA) inaugural Eco Music Challenge 2010 ended with a big bang as Rafaee Mahmood emerged the winner among 13 talented finalists with the song “Heaven on Earth”. His winning song will be used as the Clean & Green Singapore 2011 theme song, Rafaee Mahmood and his band will perform the song at the CGS 2011 campaign launch on 6 November 2010 at Sengkang Square.

Saving the Earth through Music
The Eco Music Challenge is an online song-writing competition that kick-started in July, to search for talented and passionate individuals to express their appreciation and support for our beautiful environment through music. The finalists under went three fruitful weeks of training in preparation for the Grand Finale performance at Orchard Central last Saturday, 23 October 2010.
The Eco Music Challenge 2010 underscores NEA's ongoing efforts to galvanise everyone to play a part for the environment. It also represents the second wave of NEA's youth environmental engagement programme through music, following the successful launch of the Clean and Green Singapore 2010 Song,“Let's Make Our World the Most Beautiful Home".

at the Finale Concert with a common message: Go Clean and Green
In the Limelight
With a strong passion for the environment and musical talent, the finalists became role models for other aspiring young musicians. Their musical journey was reported in major dailies such as The Straits Times (Home and Life! sections), Zaobao, myPaper, Channel News Asia, Channel 8 and 5, 938LIVE, Youth.SG, XINMSN and more. The competition also garnered strong online presence on Facebook, with more than 1,500 fans to date.
